Ruth Ray Karpen
Ruth Ray Karpen is professor emeritus at Wayne State University in Detroit, where she taught and conducted research in gerontology and English studies for 35 years. She is currently a freelance writer and researcher, as well as an adjunct instructor of English at the College of Western Idaho. Her latest book, The Big Move: Life Between the Turning Points (Indiana University Press, 2016), examines one older couple's move to a continuing-care retirement community.
