Izaskun Kortazar holds a B.A. in Basque language and a B.A. in K-12 education from the University of the Basque Country and a M.A. in Spanish Literature from Washington State University. She has been a Spanish instructor at Boise State since 2006 and in 2007 she became a full-time lecturer. She also teaches weekly Basque language classes at the Basque Museum and Cultural Center of Boise since 2006. She offers a Service Learning class every semester where her students work at several non profits providing GED tutoring classes in Spanish, translations, etc. Kortazar has also been the Basque language coordinator for the NABO (North American Basque Organization) association since 2008. As part of her job she creates teaching materials and trains Basque language instructors. She organizes periodical Basque language events in Boise open to the community.
